Ventilation Towers, Blackwall Tunnel
1961-7
Terry Farrell for London County Council + Greater London Council
Grade II
Tower Hamlets

Two sets of ventilation towers for the Blackwall Tunnel, which passes underneath. The concrete towers (top), were designed by Terry Farrell in a short lived stay at the LCC, are reminiscent of power station cooling towers. The more southerly towers (bottom) were also designed by the GLC Architects Department, and are constructed of brick and concrete.
