Southwark Station
1999
MJP Architects
Southwark

Built for the Jubilee Line Extension of 1999, Southwark was designed by Richard MacCormac of MacCormac, Jaimeson, Pritchard. The surface level ticket hall building curves around the corner of The Cut and Blackfriars Road, with a rotunda inside which recalls Charles Holden’s passimeters of the 1930s. The upper concourse features a glass wall, with 660 blue glass pieces, designed by artist Alexander Beleschenko.
