Commercial Union Building
1969
Gollins Melvin & Ward
City of London

28 storey tower in the City of London, originally built for the Commercial Union Assurance Company. It was designed by Gollins Melvin & Ward in a geometric style reminiscent of Mies Van Der Rohe, opposite another building by the same firm for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. It was badly damaged by an IRA bomb in 1992, before being renovated. It is due to be demolished to make way for another office building.
