Erno Goldfinger
Tower Hamlets
Grade II
One of Erno Goldfinger's two estates for the London County Council (the other being the Cheltenham estate), situated in Bow, next to the A12. Goldfinger and his wife lived in one of the flats for two months after completion to learn from the residents about the success and failures of his design. The estate was controversially sold off and refurbished, damaging both the material and spiritual aim of the design.
